The Little Welsh Dragon
The race has developed from the 3 year old grass championship race previously run at Tregaron and was one of the highlights of the meeting for the past few years. However the 'DDRAIG FACH GYMREIG' has a totally new format and is a stakes race.
Horses are nominated when they are foals, followed by payment of sustaining fees at different times. ONLY horses that are fully paid up (or supplemented) are eligible to race in the 'DDRAIG FACH GYMREIG'.
The first DDRAIG FACH GYMREIG/LITTLE WELSH DRAGON (for 3 year olds) was run in 2004, then in 2005 the DDRAIG IAU GYMREIG/JUNIOR WELSH DRAGON (for 2 year olds) was introduced. The final stage of the series will be the DDRAIG HYN GYMREIG/ THE SENIOR WELSH DRAGON (for 4 year olds), this will be run for the first time in the SPRING MEETING at TREGARON, on the 6th MAY 2006.
